Governor Fayose is currently being investigated for receiving sums of money from the Office of the NSA to finance his election in 2014.
According to the EFCC, the money was paid into the Zenith Bank account of Spotless Investment Limited on June 17, 2014, less than a week to the June 21 governorship election in Ekiti State.
Governor Fayose claimed yesterday that his election was funded by Zenith bank as well as well as friends and associates, but Zenith bank has denied the claims.
Although Governor Fayose enjoys constitutional immunity, his Zenith bank accounts have been frozen by the anti-graft agency as reports indicate the EFCC might shift their focus to his wife.
PDP senators have condemned the EFCC’s investigation of Fayose amid claims that President Buhari’s administration is simply witch-hunting the Ekiti state governor.
